PIONEER GAMES
Discovery Challenge is a unique Team Building, Entertainment and Destination location that offers you a chance to travel back in time and enjoy first-hand a glimpse of the Old West and pioneer living.  A time when people were free, self-reliant, and connected to nature; when the brave and adventurous left the humdrum of life in settled society and set off for the unexplored western frontier. At Discovery Challenge you can live the adventure!

We cater to a wide variety of needs.  From family day events, weddings or special events, to corporate meetings and team-building. Our staff and venues offer an experience to last a lifetime.  We are located in Cibolo Texas (just Northeast of San Antonio). Please contact Bob Tullgren, BTULLGREN@SBCGLOBAL.NET or call 210.378.6129 to schedule your memorable team building experience.

INTERACTIVE TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES
tomahawk axe throwTOMAHAWK AXE THROW
Crew will teach how to toss and stick the axe and in no time, al guests will be racking up points with every axe that sticks.  Real wood, real axes, and a function favorite!.
OUTHOUSE GOLF
Try to chip golf balls into our old west outhouse and then successfully make it into the can.  It’s not as easy as it sounds.  Everyone on the team will get the chance to score big and learn the secrets to success as they work together to hone their skills.  Only a few will flush the chip.
HORESHOE RING TOSS
Toss authentic horseshoes and make a ringer.  Work together to learn how to accurately toss a horseshoe and ring in the points.
BOW AND ARROWS
Picking out your target and zeroing in is harder than one might think in this exercise.  Not real easy, but is real fun.  Communication and sharing knowledge is a benefit in this team building event.  You will be glad that you don’t have to rely on this ancient skill for food.
HAY BAIL STEER ROPING
The crew will teach you the skill of roping cattle.  Teams will rope stationary cow skulls for points.  The team works together to hone their skills, to maximize the most points and capture the most cattle.
OLE FASHION SACK RACE
Prepare yourself for a blast from the past as you pair up and crawl into burlap sacks for a historic sack race.
TUG-O-WAR
Gran the rope and hang on—this team event can be done with or without the “mud pit”
PAINTED LANDSCAPE
Fun filled event as one sighted player with a “clear view” of a landscape, directs those over yonder and cannot see to recreate the painted landscape.  Builds communication, listening, leadership and followership skills.
QUICK DRAW SHOOTOUT
No cowboy game would be complete without a “fastest gun” competition.  Team members will compete against each other until there is just one person left standing.  That person will represent their team and go against the other group winners at the end of the day to determine who is the “Best in the South.”

TEEPEE BUILDING
A challenge to build an actual teepee.  Teams will be challenged with communication via signals and other methods to complete the task.  This is a timed event.

FENCE BUILDING
Planning and coordination is the key with this challenge event.  Groups have a minute to vocally determine a course of action, make individual assignments within the group before they set out to execute building a pioneer fence during this “non-verbal” event.  Groups quickly learn that good advance planning equals success.  The team that is able to build a fence that stands without their support in the shortest period of time will score well in this event.
covered wagon traildriveCOVERED WAGON TRAILDRIVE
Participants have to quickly pack an authentic covered wagon with essentials to get on the trail.  A timed activity that sparks conversation on the value of one item over another as you cannot take it all.  This is a facilitated event that offers a multitude of learning experiences; leadership, followership, communication, representing the group, conflict resolution and others.
PONY EXPRESS
Mounted teams (stick horses) race through an arena collecting flags and collecting points.  A timed event that is fun to watch.
BARRELL RACING

In this timed event, a blindfolded ranch hand is directed by teammates to race a barrel around a maze of obstacles.
OX YOKE PUZZLE

Event spurs analytical thinking & enhances communication as teammates move a ring from one side of an ox yoke to the other.
TWO PERSON SAW

Truly a team effort to make this authentic two-person saw cut disks from a log.
FIRE BRIGADE
Great summer event demanding teamwork and communication as participants work diligently to keep the buckets moving.

BRANDING CEREMONY
At the end of the day, everyone is pulled once again together to congratulate the teams for their fine efforts and given a facilitated recap of what was learned, observed and their great strides in  becoming one cohesive unit.  The winning team captain is invited to pull the branding iron from the hot coals and brand our logo onto a plaque.  Not only does this give you a great take back to the office, but a reminder of the experience and lessons learned.
The branding ceremony is a great way to end the day’s competition.  After competition, an optional BBQ plated meal can reunite the teams around the campfire ring and covered wagon for the final ceremony.  As an optional ceremony, participants can brand a personal object with the Discovery Challenge brand for a lasting personal souvenir of their pioneer team building experience.

Discovery Challenge is a non-profit, 501(c)3, that is passionate about team development.  We offer other themes and activities on our 5-acre property.  We customize every experience with facilitation and events designed to accomplish the client’s pre-determined team building goals.
